The grand unveiling!

So on the part of the weekend that did have crappy weather, we finally finished our grand, lavish kitchen remodel! This may well represent the low point of excitement and interesting discussion on this blog, but since we were both aching and stiff by the time we were done and probably will try to avoid doing any home improvement for as long as possible now as a result, I figured we should at least show it off.

The 'before' pictures, if you can't tell, show the kitchen we started with and its drab, poorly installed floors, boring wood-grain cabinets and crumbling old refrigerator. Not shown here are the bubbling pit of lava and the family of gophers.





We both put in plenty of elbow grease - here's me sanding the cabinets for painting and Leslie laying down the floor tiles (amazingly, she got them all straight despite an installation enhancement technique that you won't ever see on HGTV). We also painted the countertops with a faux-finish using leftover wall paint. The new hardware cost maybe $100 all togther and the tiles were about $140, but other than that we didn't spend much of anything except for on the new refrigerator.





The result is kitch-alicious!
